Last Thursday my mom's house was broken into. The took almost all of the electronics in the house, all of her jewelry (most of which was heirloom) 5 corona's and 2 bottles of wine. They also stole a video camera i had borrowed from a friend that is going to cost close to 4k to replace. They kicked the front door in and went to town looting.
So my mom had an ADT alarm system installed. It cost her 400$ to have it installed and $32 a month for the monitoring service, and all we got some little fire alarm looking things that detect the sound of glass breaking, a siren outside, and a keypad for the front and back door. With a little luck it will keep the bastards out.
