we ended up in the temple mall. While walking thorough we saw that the
temple library was having a book sale so we stopped in and looked around. It
was mostly all those junk books that no one ever reads so they sell them for
like a buck each. On our way out we decided to look over at the rare and
collectible books, they were old...and falling apart, we decided to get the
oldest one we could find, which the one we got ended up to NOT be the oldest
one. Amber saw this collection of Ralph Waldo Emerson essays, he's the guy
that wrote quotes like
" A friend is one before whom I may think aloud."
" A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes
longer."
" Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet."
" Colleges hate geniuses, just as convents hate saints."
" Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could."
" I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."
The book we got didn't really have a date but amber knew of the guys works
so we got the book, took it home and did a little research into it. Turns
out that the book is somewhere between 100-125 years old. The publishers
were only in business from 1877-189?. So we thought we had found a good buy,
looked it up on-line in rare books stores..only 3 bucks...bah. No worries we
have a 100+ year old book that we only paid 6 bucks for.
